THE FACTS!

FACT 1:

IT’S THE LAW & IT’S NOT OPTIONAL!

If you have one employee (however few hours they work) you have to do Health & Safety. If you have five or more employees, you have to write it all down in a Policy Document. This must include a STATEMENT, RESPONSIBILITIES LIST or CHART and the ARRANGEMENTS. These are the Policies, Risk Assessments, Audits and forms with which you can prove YOUR management of Health & Safety, the competence of YOUR staff to whom you have delegated responsibilities and YOUR ‘due diligence’ to the authorities.

FACT 2: BREACHING HEALTH & SAFETY LAW IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE!
You’d be surprised at the ‘names’ that are shamed on www.hse.gov.uk/prosecutions/search/industry - don’t join them!

FACT 3:

NEVER, EVER IS IGNORANCE A DEFENCE!

Criminal courts, civil law suits, employment tribunals, insurance assessors - none of these accept excuses.

(So that’s the ‘Sticking-Your-Head-In-The-Sand Option’ out of the window then!)

FACT 4:

BEING UP-TO-DATE WITH HEALTH & SAFETY CAN MAKE GOOD BUSINESS SENSE!

(Put another way…not complying with Health & Safety law can severely damage your bottom line!)

Bad publicity, giving your insurance company another reason not to pay out, losing operating licences, failing to get new or losing existing contracts…All of that and more, without even mentioning that if your most important asset (your staff) gets hurt, who’s going to make your widgets or serve your customers? As Easyjet’s founder Stelios says:

“If you think Health & Safety is expensive, try having an accident!”

FACT 5:

HEALTH & SAFETY ISN’T ROCKET SCIENCE!

If you can run a business, you can “DO” Health & Safety” – you just need a bit of help from us to get it sorted!
